Kapit Lang

O kababayan , tandaan may humahawak
Sa atin . Sa ating kamay at sa ating likod . Di mo man napapansin, andyan Sya.
Kapag tayo ay nasa estribo ng buhay.
Madulas o maka bitaw
Mayroon hahawak ng mahigpit sa atin

Para tayo makadating at magawa natin
Ang pagkatawag sa atin
Mahigpit ang Kanyang kapit
At pasa saan tayo ay aabot din .

Shattered

Been through

Mid-life

some challenges

Wondering if there are

anything more

Questions

Will I see

the future

of my children

when they  grow

up and mature

Did not expect

Something

like this

to happen

Did not

prepare

for any

of these

Not just

lost of life

but snatch

from us

in a day

some minutes

only

Normal life

shattered

by an accident

in a wink of an eye

in a moment

A Month After

Came Back

to the site

Fears and Visions

of Days Gone

Trying to face it all

At the pool

From the far side

Cannot really see

half of them

Too dark blue

Also at the shade

Too many plants and flatform

Covering the view

and the rope – with the balls

too far in between

At the cabana

Standing

Realized

He really went into

the pool fast

not to be seen

It was a rainy day

With the sun shining hard

Strange day

At 3 o’clock afternoon

Went away

Still

I can still remember

That day

May you have the peace son

Also us you left

behind

Cannot look into again

No breathe

No response

Just a faraway look

Held him in my arms

But slipped

Because of the weight

Helped by another

Standing in a van

Seeing him

Holding his hands and feet

Not moving

Inspite of…

Inside the room

Many nurses and doctors

IVs and equipment

She cannot look into

At the end

Me and my son

Saying our goodbyes

As I tried to close his eyes

I can no longer look into

Such room

Without thinking of

Him at his last moment

Empty Chairs

Early in the morning

Saturdays- breakfast

Always ahead of the others

Sitting-looking at me

Eating with me

But now-it is just an empty chair

Watching the TV at night

my favorite dvd series

entering the room

sitting at the chair near LCD screen

looking at me

and then watching what I was watching

But now-just an empty chair

Running, playing in the streets

In the heat of the noonday sun

with my son-and his cousins

But now -it is just an empty street

no laughter nor play

The Children of the King

This was an allegory I used to teach the kids (5-10 years old) who were recipient of the gifts (for Christmas Season) of Samaritan Purse-but due to large backlog in shipping loads-it arrived in March 2010 instead.

 The Children of the King

There was a kind and generous king

Who has a kingdom where people have everything they need.

Outside of the city walls is a big garden with trees and flowers of many varieties

This is where the children of the city play.

They were called the “Children of the King”- for the King loves them so

It was guarded by the best soldiers of the kingdom can offer.

It has a gate flowing to the forest and the plains

One day an ice cream man station outside of the gate

Gave them ice cream-if they would step out of the gate

And when the children went out of the garden-the pirates, thieves

Kidnapped all the children who left the garden.

All of them were outside the garden –when the pirates swoop over them

They took them to a faraway land

Where they become slaves

Amongst the many children of that land

The King sent his Son

The Prince to find a way

To rescue them

There in the faraway land

He went there in disguise –with some of his trusted lieutenants

However, someone betrayed them

And they were all killed

One by one-including the prince

They put the prince in the city walls

Near a tree –as a warning to those who will rescue the kids

How can the children of the King be able to go back home now?

Before the prince died-he was able to find and talk with the children

And he left them with his instruction and promise.

“I will return and take you home”

The Prince was able to send His Father

A coded message thru a dove he brought

To the faraway land

Included was his strategy of regaining the children.

The King-His father was to send gift boxes to all children of the faraway land

The postman of that land is a spy himself-and was there for a long time

He will observe the response of the children to the gift of the King.

The Prince said to the postman:

Those who read the card attached to the gift-

And read it first-and then weep or smile after they read it

With these words written-“I will return and take you home”

You will know that they are the children of the King

Those who throw out the card without reading them

And just open the gift box-

They are the children of the faraway land

The postman was commanded by the King

To seal or write with an invisible pen on the arms of the children of the king

What is written in the arms of the children?

“Loved by the Prince”

Then one day –the armies of the King came down

In all their splendor and dreadful countenance

Ahead of them are the paratroopers

That entered the city of the faraway land and

Freed the all the slaves

And separated the children of the King

By the seal they have in their arm

Written is “Loved by the Prince”

The armies of the King defeated the army

Of the pirates and thieves

And the children was able to go back

To the Kingdom and the Garden

Where they were abducted.

Who is the king?

Who is the prince?

If you have been marked with seal-you will know it too.

Rembrandt's Nightwatch

Rembrandt's Nightwatch

Resign to fate and drudgery alas

Forever viewing the silent moon shine

Bathing the surface with calmness align

Not knowing the part of being in cast

Always and always waiting for nothing

Design to render law and order over

Soldiers Republic had given yonder

But with measly wages give minds hurting

foolish is this station’s life wondrin

Situated in vilages amidst hills

Mountains that brings boredom,sometimes shrills

Coffee in a pot, padrinos drinking

But at last these circumstances will change

For the forest will reveal anger’s range

Modern day Riot Squad

Modern day Riot Squad

Families losing properties and lands

When renegades plunder and oppose law

For turncoats acted to feast on flesh, raw

While member’s eye-open watching the band

Anger, anger will strike ablaze forthwith

Resilency of a Filipino

No comparison with White’s casino

For within the soul, there is breadth and width

But fortune turn against loyal forces

Mistaken for hooded thugs, swift mistakes

Farmers brandishing bolos and stakes

Rush to camp while soldiers turn their faces

Nightwatch filled with ambivalence and shame

Loyalist forces scheduled for canes

Martial Law , 1972

Martial Law , 1972

Away to the rear

Hooded thugs bearing arms

All muscled up and mean looking

Eyes fixed on one purpose

To maim, kill and destroy

Striding heavily

Menacing the streets

All littered with bodies

of women raped

babies shred to pieces,

Elders brutalized

All they have is the purpose

To maim, kill and destroy

Nazis during Nuremberg, Germany 1928

Nazis during Nuremberg, Germany 1928

People hiding, trying to save their skins

Mothers covering their children

Fathers dying infront of their families

All they do

To maim, kill and destroy

Reaching Them For You

I was always alone by myself

Not caring what goes on

For others like me

people who sits by me

at the bus or jeepney

Working hard

Building my world

Insulating it from others

Others like me

Looking for

someone to be with

Almost always

running from them

Avoiding you

Avoiding your image in them

But you found me

And I found myself

reaching other for you

And I found myself reaching them for you

Undivided

I tried to hide the idols of my heart

In the secrte rooms

Hoping no one will see it

Hoping He will not see it too

The one I thought is Freedom

Led me to prison

The one that gives me pleasure

Led me to long term pain

Wretched man I am

Alone in my sin

No hope

No strenght

But He came

His thoughts for me undivided

His presence undiluted

Now I found myself released from my chains

And my heart now undivided

“Lady Knight In Innocence”

1985. August 30

I despaired in my loneliness

Memories reminding me of the days past

I sought rest under a clear blue sky

Hoping for the image of the woman

Waiting for her to touch me again in my being

Comforting myself in the promises of that night

Waiting for her to reveal the beauty in her eyes

And the enigma cloaking her sensuous body

Time ticking rapidly

Torturing my soul, leaving me insane

I had tasted the aroma of that skin

And it lifted me up, entering the completeness

For there is no other love

I tried to haunt the place I last saw her

Stepping on the threshold of new beginning

I forgot to grasp her reality

Leaving her behind

My lady search for me

For your lover has gone blind

Search for me when there’s still light

For the sky threatens our existence

Press for the fundamental importance

Of our existence under the sun

To enjoy and live with the one given to you

To touch the person from your individuality

Keep me, keep me in that lock

Until the law permits our destiny

Whisper to me the secrets of your person

During the time I had feel your warmth

After we exchange the subtle beauty

Residing in the beds of our spirit

Asking for more hours for the ecstasy

Praying for His ultimate entrance to our oneness
