All Men are Liars

Romans 3: 9-18

9                      What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin,

10                    as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;

11                    no one understands; no one seeks for God.

12                    All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”

13                    “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.”

14                    “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”

15                    “Their feet are swift to shed blood;

16                    in their paths are ruin and misery,

17                    and the way of peace they have not known.”

18                    “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

I always wanted to watch the TV Series –“House”  and “Lie To Me” –because it narrates how men and women take great lengths  how not to say the truth. And that includes everybody-including myself. We just don’t want to say the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Some make a living of telling lies- and are adamant defending themselves when caught by others in their act of lying. What is galling is that some people profess in public that they are paragons of truth and justice –when in fact –they are spinners of the truth. They can hide under legal technicalities in order to obscure or hide the falsehood one has lived for so many years. And fear of true justice is driving one to lie some more-and in public!

It is said that it is easier to tell the truth for it is easier to testify to what really happened –but falsehood needs time and effort to fabricate. It is also easier to live with one’s conscience than with a baggage that is easily seen by God himself- As written in Hebrews 4 : 12-13

12                    “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

13                    And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
