Grace Thru Faith

FaithProfile

A Filipino. Born-again christian since 1981. Former Roman Catholic-Youth Marian Crusade member. Former adherent  to Reconstructionist and “flat line” covenant theology.

But now -Lausanne-evangelical, Kuyperian, Van Tillian, Vossian,  Dordtian freedom of  grace, missional, and new covenant theology adherent.

I also believe that to preach and teach the bible one must use a redemptive-historical-eschatological hermeneutic that gives justice to the divine-human organic nature of the Scriptures. It must be also faithful to the contextual and canonical settings of the verses -And to remain relevant to the people of God-it must be appropriately illustrated and applied in their lives.

I was surfing the internet and happened to land on your site. I’ve been a member of CRC all my life. We currently have a number of members of our church from the Philippines. May God bless you and your family

Glad to hear that. I am a CRC since 1982 -a year after I became a born agian-Christian. Around 1993, when I got married-we transferred residence-the only church I can relate to freely is a newly formed Presbyterian Church. So from 1993 to 2008 I was a board member and ordained elder of Presbyterina church. I felt into doubts regarding infant baptism-especially the Presbyterian variety (with is Federal Vision variety nagging in my head) so I was suspended by my pastor for doubting it.

Our family joined a baptist church for 1 year-but found its experience to be wanting. They are very good preachers but Reformed people are not one-preacher type of Christians. We like a broader perspective. Re-reading Geerhardus Vos on progressive redemptive hermeneutic , Dutch writers on the covenant (a lot of pdf is available at the Paideia Press website) and other New Covenantal theology adherents-made me raelized that it is better for me to return to my original denomination. CRC is not perfect-but it has -and still have a broader perspective on things compared with PRC, URC-or even other Presbyterian denominations. The Dutch writers -even the American variety sees things differently and I would like to remain in a denomination that is still growing in maturity and commitment to the Lord and His Creation.
